Even with the best oral health habits, dental emergencies can happen when you least expect them. Whether it is a broken tooth, a lost filling or an unbearable toothache, we set aside a few appointments for emergencies every day to address the issue immediately in a calm and professional environment.
Here is some advice about what to consider before you arrive to assist with your dental emergency:

Knocked-out or broken tooth from trauma?
Time is critical. Delaying treatment by even a few hours could be the difference from being a filling to being root canal treatment or even extraction with an expensive replacement that may never look or feel as good as your natural tooth, increasing the cost and time at the dentist dramatically. If you have the fractured tooth fragment or the knocked out tooth, please keep it and call us immediately for advice.

Severe pain or swelling?
Swelling can be a sign of infection from either the gum or the tooth. Rinse your mouth with warm saltly water, avoid eating in that region and call us for an appointment.

Lost a filling or crown or bridge?
Keep the tooth clean and avoid chewing on that side of your mouth. If you have the crown or bridge, please bring it with you, even if it appears broken or not of any use, as we may be able to re-cement it to protect the underlying tooth, stop any sensitivity and hopefully prevent the need to replace with a new crown or bridge with its associated costs.
